About the artist

Bridget Sanders is Producer & Creative Director at Birdlife Productions and has been making and performing with Puppetry for the last 15 years. For Bridget, puppetry is a direct link from her handcraft to storytelling and performance. She was fortunate to work alongside Akiko Miyamoto, a Master Japanese puppeteer living in Whakatū Nelson, who inspired her to make simple Bunraku style puppets. Most of her puppetry to date is influenced by these rudimentary beginnings, with the addition of shadow puppetry, and the inclusion of scale shift (from very small to very big).

Training includes: Mask & Clown at the John Bolton Theatre School in Melbourne, Puppetry with Sandglass Puppet Theatre, USA and Puppet making with Judith Hope, UK.
